Workshop on construction of a plunger pump for wells to improve water access for family agriculture

Published at: 12 October 2022

On October 1st, a workshop on the construction of a piston pump for wells was held with producers from the Periurban Area of Ingeniero Jacobacci.

Within the framework of the FONTAGRO project "Adaptation to climate change of family livestock" and with professionals from the Rural Extension Agency INTA Jacobacci, a workshop was held with a group of producers from the Periurban area of the town.

The workshop consisted of the presentation of the tool: principles of operation and technical specificities. The pump was manufactured and put into operation in a 3.6 meter well. The technological proposal aims at facilitating access to water by means of manual pumping with a low-cost, low-maintenance pump.

For the sizing of the pump, the filling of buckets with different pumping intensities of different operators was timed. The result was 40 liters per minute with little force.

The evaluation of the event was very positive and the opinions on the usefulness of the pump and the ease of operation and maintenance of the system were highlighted.
