Pregnancy detection in cattle herds

Published at: 21 July 2019

On July 18 and 19, technicians from the EEA INTA Bariloche and OER INTA Los Menucos developed a workshop with producers in the area of Sierra Blanca, within the framework of the FONTAGRO project.

Within the framework of the FONTAGRO project: Innovation and intensification for adaptation to climate change in extensive family ranching.

The objective of this field day was the implementation of pregnancy detection in cattle herds in the area, so that the producer has records of his cows, to know how many are pregnant and how many are empty, which will allow him to make management decisions. The activity was in charge of Med. Macarena Bruno, a member of the Animal Reproduction Group of EEA Bariloche. The producers that make up the Community of Practice (CoP) of the Sierra Colorada area also participated as a strategy to socialize knowledge among the members of the community.
