MEETING WITH THE PARAGUAYAN INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY TO PRESENT RESULTS

The presentation of results (period 2020-2024) within the framework of the FONTAGRO ATN/RF 18079-RG Project "Increasing Bovine Productivity in the South American Chaco," was conducted by Dr. Vet. Maura Ortiz, acting as coordinator on behalf of the institution, with the participation of FONTAGRO's General Coordinator, Agr. Eng. PhD Alejandro Radrizzani from INTA, and directors and technicians from the livestock area of IPTA.

The main objective of the project, involving INTA (Argentina), INIAF and FEGASACRUZ (Bolivia), and IPTA (Paraguay), was to increase the weaning index and kg/ha/year of beef cattle systems in the Paraguayan Chaco. A total of 101 family producers cooperated, and 15 pilot sites were established in the Departments of Presidente Hayes and Boquerón. These sites benefited from a training program and the provision of inputs in various incorporated technologies: Forage and feeding, Health, and Herd Management.

Representatives from IPTA included Agr. Eng. PhD Orlando Noldin from the General Directorate of Research Programs, Dr. Vet. MSc. Jorge Cabañas from the Livestock Research Programs Directorate, Agr. Eng. Crisanta Rodas and Dr. Vet. Mirtha Benítez from the Technology Transfer Directorate, Lic. Lourdes Cáceres from the National and International Cooperation Directorate, Dr. Vet. Máximo Riquelme from Livestock Research Programs, and Agr. Eng. MSc. Ramón Dávalos from the General Directorate of Planning.
