LECHECK update and E-Learning course

Published at: 02 November 2023

The project is launching the update of the LECHECK App, incorporating the feedback received from the app validation process in each country. At the same time, an E-Learning course for Climate-Smart Dairy.

In 2020, the AgTech for Climate-Smart Dairy project, supported by FONTAGRO and funded by the Ministry of Primary Industries of New Zealand, started its activities. The project involves the countries of Honduras, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Argentina.

The main objective of the project is to generate new capacities for the dairy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, and implement sustainable management processes aimed at achieving Climate Smart Dairy Farms.

The LECHECK application was launched in May 2022, and validation was then conducted in each of the project's co-executing countries, encouraging widespread use, evaluation, and improvement to achieve a robust tool.

More than 500 dairy farms from Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the validation process in March 2023, and 80,000 practices were surveyed. The ease of use and a good user experience were highlighted, and some improvement suggestions were made.

We are currently launching the update of the LECHECK App, incorporating the feedback received from the app validation process in each country. At the same time, an E-Learning course for Climate-Smart Dairy is under way. This 8-hour distance learning course aims to bring users closer to the most important concepts of Climate-Smart Dairy, describe its best practices and use the app interactive guide. Assessment-based certificates will be issued.
