Biography

Ph.D. researcher affiliated to the Colombian Corporation for Agricultural Research – Agrosavia. Biologist from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia, with a Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences from the National University of Colombia and a doctorate in Agronomy and Horticulture with an emphasis on Genetics and Plant Breeding at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, USA. She has experience in plant breeding, cytogenetics, and plant molecular genetics. She has supported breeding programs of blackberries, cape gooseberries, beans, and potatoes. In her work she has developed and used molecular markers to study and characterize plant species. Additionally, she has employed cytogenetic tools to identify ploidy in different species. Likewise, she has participated in agronomic evaluations in the field for the registration of plant materials and participated as a specialist in the development of the first two varieties of cape gooseberry for Colombia.
