Biography

Associate Professor, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, National University of Colombia. Expert in Genetics and plant breeding in different crops with emphasis on potato and ornamental species and Crop production systems.
Academic Training: Doctor in Agricultural Sciences, Genetics, and Plant Breeding Area from the National University of Colombia. Master in Agricultural Sciences. Genetics and Plant Breeding Area, from the same university. Bachelor´s in Biology and Chemistry from the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.
Plant varieties: Lead breeder (PI) of the most nutritious yellow diploid potatoes: Criolla Dorada, Criolla Ocarina and Criolla SuaPa. Lead breeder (PI) in obtaining the cultivars: Criolla Galeras, Criolla Guaneña, Criolla Latina, Criolla Paisa and Criolla Colombia. Breeder (Co-investigator) in obtaining tetraploid varieties of potato: Ruby, Esmeralda and Punto Azul. .

Publications: More than 40 scientific articles in national and international high-impact journals, Three published books. Experience in participatory genetic improvement and participation in training processes through Farmer Training Schools (ECAs). He has been in fourteen research projects developed in association with different national and international institutions.
