Biography

Scientific trajectory

I carried out my scientific career in the Department of Biodiversity and Experimental Biology of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (previously Department of Biological Sciences) to which I joined in 1970 as full-time assistant teacher. In that institution I held different positions, being appointed Consultant Professor in 2007. In 1974 I joined as a member of the Scientific Researcher Career, occupying since 2009 the position of Senior Researcher.

I have obtained different research grants: 1978-1978 CONICET external grant to study soil fungi with Dennis Parkinson at the University of Calgary. In 1988, a Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education a research grant at the Zaidín Experimental Station, Granada Spain supervised by Dr. Juan A. Ocampo Bote. Finally I got a research stay, granted by the Ministry of Education of Mexico at INECOL, Xalapa, Mexico, at Dr. G. Heredia Abarca lab.

Main lines of research

Final objective: To understand the effect of the soil microbiome on the establishment and productivity of native or cultivated plants.

1) Biodiversity of the soil microbiome.

2) Interaction between microorganisms.

3) Design of bioinoculants for agriculture.

4) Formulation of complex inoculants that allow the decontamination of soils with heavy metals.
