Technical solution ready for field tests with producers

Throughout the month of May and the remainder of June, our field team works on the installation of 90 replicas of the technological solution on the farms of beneficiary producers. By the end of June, 30 devices will have been installed in each country, Colombia, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The technological solution is a robust, low-cost and highly usable device that allows soil moisture to be measured. The device has a charging autonomy of up to six months in the field and has easy data download without the need for remote connectivity.

The devices are being installed on multiple crops, including coffee, cane, and vegetables.

The installation process is very simple, two holes are opened in the ground, one to place the sensor at the average height of the crop roots, and another to bury the capsule that contains the data logger. This installation procedure allows the device to be hidden, reducing the chances of damage and theft.

At the same time that the sensors are installed, the project is being socialized with the producer associations that participate in the project. After the installation, there will be a day to review the sensors, in the middle of each crop cycle, and a final visit to collect the data from the devices and crop management information.
