Biography

Business administrator born in Cali, Colombia. Margarita worked for more than 20 years for different multinational companies in the United States and Latin America where she held different management positions. She considers herself a “mountain girl by heart”, not only because of her peasant roots but also because of the work she has been developing for 5 years with a group of extraordinary rural women from ASOARCE asociation in the high mountains. ASOARCE’s work was the inspiration that led her to create Paramo Farms and Paramo Snacks, anchor companies that support the agroforestry reconversion programs with organic and diversified production developed by there rural families, integrating within the value chain to generate innovation and sustainability. This model has been recognized and awarded by important national and international organizations such as Colciencias / PPD, Latin America Green Awards, Chivas Venture, FedEx Small Business Grant and ENCAMPO program of Fundación Bancolombia / Portafolio Verde, among others.
