(Washington, D.C., July 27, 2017) Today FONTAGRO (Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology) opened a competitive process to fill the position of Executive Secretary.

In accordance with the provisions set forth in the FONTAGRO Charter regarding the duration of the appointment, and upon completion of two successful periods in charge of the Executive Secretariat, Dr. Hugo Li Pun, will end his term on December 31, 2017.

On behalf of FONTAGRO’s Board of Directors during a special meeting held last June, Mr. Armando Bustillo, President of FONTAGRO, highlighted the Board’s satisfaction regarding Dr. Li Pun’s work and dedication to consolidate and position FONTAGRO as a cooperation mechanism aimed at innovating family agriculture among its member countries.

FONTAGRO was established in 1998 and is sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). The organization has an extensive network of international relations with multiple organizations. FONTAGRO’s Technical Administrative Secretariat (TAS), based at IDB headquarters, is responsible for its technical and administrative support. The person sought to direct TAS must have a PhD and a strong agricultural research, development, and innovation background, as well as proven experience in establishing strategic international partnerships and mobilizing resources.

Applicants must possess proven leadership, strategic foresight, and organizational capacity to plan and manage agricultural research, development, and innovation programs. Applicants must also be fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
